Question 4.11:The following results have been obtained during the kinetic studies of the reaction: 2A + B → C + D

Determine the rate law and the rate constant for the reaction.
Answer
Let the order for reactant A = x
And the order for the reactant B = y
Use formula


4 = 4x
Each value has 1 as power so that 4 = 41
41 = 4x
Compare the powers we get
x = 1
Plug the value of x and y in equation (1), we get

After calculation we get
k = 6.0 mol−2 L2min−1
Answer
Rate constant, k = 6.0 L2 mol−2 min−1
