The rate constant for a first order reaction is 60 s−1. How much time will it take to reduce the initial concentration of the reactant to its 1/16th value?

Question 4.16: The rate constant for a first order reaction is 60 s−1. How much time will it take to reduce the initial concentration of the reactant to its 1/16th value?
Answer
Given that
Order of reaction =first
Rate constant k = 60 sec -1
If initial concentration [R]o = w g
Then final concentration [R] = w/16 g
Use the formula of first order reaction

t = 4.6 × 10−2 s
Answer
Time = 4.6 × 10−2 s.
